Japan Flights Fares and Discounts

Like flying to any destination, the cheapest flights to Japan are available by flying outside the peak seasons of Christmas, New Year, and Golden Week (the last week of April and the first week of May), and the summer vacation period of July and August. And again, if your city has a sizeable Asian population there is a good chance that a number of local Japanese travel agencies offer flights to Asia at discount rates. Another thing to keep in mind when searching for cheap flights to Japan, is whether or not you plan on flying domestically once inside the country. If you plan to fly between the major Japanese cities for business or pleasure, some Japanese air carriers offer cheap flights to Tokyo if you use the same airline to fly within the Japan.
For visitors who are planning a number of longer journeys during their stay, domestic airfares often compare favorably with the cost of catching the Shinkansen. There are also a variety of discounts available to help make flying within Japan even better value for money.

• All Nippon Airways (ANA) - offers special discount domestic fares for overseas travellers on ANA and Star Alliance Partner Carriers. The Star Alliance Japan Air pass must be purchased outside Japan and is available to holders of a valid international ticket to or via Japan. Passengers can choose to buy between one and five domestic sectors, with each sector costing \11,500 (exclusive of \550 per sector tax). This represents a saving up to 71% on some routes. • Japan Airlines (JAL) – one world Yokoso/Visit Japan Fare - this must be purchased in conjunction with JAL or a one world carrier’s international ticket, prior to departure for Japan. Passengers can choose to buy between one and five domestic sectors, with each sector costing \10,000 (exclusive of the \500 per sector tax). The fare is subject to restricted periods of travel. • Both ANA and JAL offer significant discounts on the cost of a standard domestic fare if you purchase your domestic flight in conjunction with your international ticket on the respective airline.
